Find the voice that feels like you

At BIBIVOX, I work with transgender, non-binary, and gender diverse people to explore and nurture the voice in a way that feels affirming and authentically yours.

For many, voice can be a source of discomfort or dysphoria.

Our sessions are client-ledtrauma-informed, and free from stereotypes about what your voice “should” be. You decide the goals – I help you get there, safely.

What you can expect in our sessions

STage 1:
Getting to know you

After your initial consultation, we meet for an assessment to:

  • Discuss your goals

  • Learn about your medical and vocal history

  • Ascertain your current vocal usage and needs

  • Complete some voice assessment tasks

  • Cover the basics of vocal anatomy, hygiene, and therapy principles.

You will receive educational and practice material (e.g., recording, handouts) after your first session. You will also receive feedback (via email or chat platform) on any recordings you send between sessions.

STage 2:
training mode

You will have had a chance to practise some basics, with homework provided and sent to you, delivered in the way that makes most sense to you.

We will follow a structured (but flexible) program that is responsive to your needs and builds on your current strengths.

You will be given some additional exercises to help with expanding your pitch range, and improving breathing efficiency and vocal production. We will discuss adjusting session frequency if needed (e.g., to make the most of your Medicare-rebated sessions).

STage 3:
Skill refinement

Once you have the technique down, we explore vocal characteristics and micro-behaviours that feel like you, and practise these during role plays.

We will discuss additional voice exercises that may be of benefit and space out sessions where needed.

I ensure you have continued access to feedback and correspondence in between sessions.

STage 4:
Real-world Confidence

The final stage sees us practising beyond the clinical setting, exploring your voice out in the community.

You may wish to have me present, or practise with your safe people, or continue to request specific feedback on your recordings completed outside the clinical space.

If you have access to Medicare-rebated sessions, you may choose to continue services (paid out of pocket) or schedule check-ins from time to time.
